Help for a local family

Today in berkley, mi there is a huge garage sale going on to help a local family raise money for a seizure dog from 4 Paws For Ability.

The little girl is 5-year-old Shaylee and she has Aicardi Syndrome which is a terminal and incurable illness; she has seizures that sometimes cause her to stop breathing. 95% of children with this illness die in their sleep from a seizure because nobody knew they had stopped breathing. Shaylee’s mom Holly is trying to get a seizure dog that will be trained to sleep in her room so if she stops breathing the dog can alert her parents to help. The dog can also be trained to detect seizures before they happen. The cost for the dog is $13,000.00. Currently Holley and her husband Chris have to sleep in shifts just so Shaylee isn’t alone in case she has a seizure and stops breathing and the dog would allow them to have a more normal family life.

This whole thing has really taken off because of the Mojo in the morning show on FM 95.5 (Detroit area). They found about this families plight and wanted to help.
