CONSTRUCTION
- Each table is made-to-order and our craftsmen will follow your specifications from start to finish.
- Each table is assigned a serial number for tracking purposes should any questions or problems arise.
- Self-storing tables are designed to conveniently store extra leaves.
- Wooden glides are designed to take the weight in the center of the table when opened.
- All tables are standard with a lever lock in the center of the table, however ANY table that is ordered with the self store feature will not have a lever lock unless it is special ordered. The lock is removed so that the “catch” part of the lock does not scratch the leaves as they are being put in the self store position.
- Leaf locks are available upon request. Leaves will use a spring lock. These locks are user friendly and adjust well to any movement that will occur naturally with wood products.
CARE OF SOLID WOOD TABLES
- Place your table away from radiators, fireplaces, and heating ducts.
- Position table out of direct sunlight or adjust blinds to avoid hour after hour of direct sunlight.
- Control humidity to 40%–45%. In winter use a humidifier, in summer use a dehumidifier or air conditioner.
- Use coasters with non-scratching bottoms. Use padding under all sharp, hot, or cold objects.
- Store table leaves in close proximity to table or in the same humidity, avoid storing leaves in damp basements where the leaves may swell.
- Avoid using nail polish remover, alcohol, and other solvents near or on table.
- Dust carefully with a soft cloth, following the grain pattern of the wood. Use an old T-shirt, baby diaper or cheesecloth that has been laundered to remove the sizing.
ROUTINE CLEANING AND CARE
- Dust often to remove everyday abrasive particles from wood surfaces.
- Consider cleaning with a mild non-alkaline soap and water. Use the suds in a damp sponge or cloth, but be sure to pre-test the solution on an out-of-sight section to make sure it doesn’t damage the finish. Dry immediately with a soft cloth and buff lightly, following the grain.
- Don't wax or use any polish that contains any silicones! Catalyzed heat and moisture resistant finishes don’t need additional polish, but if you want to use a polish we recommend Parker & Bailey's Furniture Cleaner.

Seating
Seating
Whether you’re seating 10 people or just 4, you’re going to want to make sure the table you pick out size wise makes sense. Just because a 48″ round can sit 6 people doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best when it comes to sitting 6 people at all times. Below are some example table sizes and our recommendations for each size.
Round & Square Tables
When it comes to square or round tables, typically a 42″ and 48″ will be able to sit the same amount of people just like a 54″ and 60″ can. We have seen some diagrams that show a 48″ can sit 6 people. This is highly situational. The only way something like that is possible if it a pedestal style table. When you sit 6 people at that kind of size, it is a very tight fit as well.
Oval & Rectangular Tables
On any style table, a 42″W x 60″L can sit 4 people comfortably and a 42″W x 66″L or 42″W x 72″L will seat 6 people. Leg tables will be more constrained when it comes adding chairs due to the fact you lose your corners on each end.
On a 42″W x 60″L leg table you will typically only be able to sit 4 people at the table (1 on each end). Depending on the size of the legs, it may be possible to put 6 people around the table but this is rare and still may not be comfortable for everyone sitting. To 6 people around a leg table the minimum size is a 42″W x 66″L but the recommended size is a 42″W x 72″L as it is the most comfortable giving everyone enough leg and elbow space between each other.
When it comes to 42″W x 60″L trestle tables, you will be able to sit 4 people comfortably. Depending on the trestle base, you will only be able to push 4 chairs in all the way. This is the same when it comes to 42″W x 66″L trestle tables. A 42″W x 72″L will be able to push 6 chairs in under the table.
Widths
Typically, most tables come in a 42″ wide standard. You are able to increase that to a 48″ wide. This doesn’t increase the amount of people you can sit at your table. This just creates some extra leg room for those on the corners. The one thing to keep in mind when you increase the width, it can make it more difficult passing dishes and condiments. Rather than simply passing the salt, you might have to toss the salt.

Opening Leg Tables
Opening Leg Tables
Legged tables are made with wooden slides making it a two-person job (one person each end pulling). Wood slides are designed to take the weight in the center of the table when opened. Gear slides are designed to take weight on the ends of the table when opened. Therefore the manufacturers do not recommend the gear slide for leg tables.

Do you have any dining tables that start at 36" wide? We are looking for something that is 36"x50" that expands with one leaf to 65" approximately. Thanks!

Most of our leg tables are customizable in their starting sizes. Double pedestals and trestle tables are harder to customize since you start running into issues with the base. For 36 inches wide you are going to want to be careful with what leg table you go with since some legs are fairly large. For the length we would recommend 54 inches since our leaves are 12 inches and this will bring you to 66 inches and let you self store the leaf in the table. When it comes to order a custom sized table, contact our showroom to start an order. Hope this helps!
